December 2022 Design and Construction Update

District Administration is working closely with our design team (DLR Group) and contractors (Stahl Construction). Below you’ll find an updated summary of actions that have been taking place for Valerius Elementary.

PROJECT UPDATES

Valerius Elementary

• Grading on the east side begins mid-December
• Curb and gutter, saw cutting of pavement has started; removal and curb placement will follow
• Building envelope is enclosed and the building has heating
• Area A
  • Duct installations have been completed 
  • Drywall started in electrical and mechanical rooms on 1st and 2nd floors and classrooms
  • MEP rough-in has started and is ongoing on the 2nd floor; 1st floor is complete with exception of tie-ins 
  • In-wall inspections from the City have started 
  • 2nd floor framing is 90% complete 
  • Sprinkler mains and branch are complete
  • Duct/pipe insulation ongoing 
  • FEMA windows are installed however a couple have flaws in them; new windows have been ordered and will be installed upon arrival
  • Refrigeration has started
• Area B
  • All exterior framing is complete
  • Exterior brick work begins early December
  • Exterior sheathing is being complete
  • MEP rough-in has started
  • Interior second floor framing is complete
  • Sprinkler installation has started
• Area C
  • Interior CMU is complete
  • Window installation in gym area is completed
  • Metal Wall Panels are ongoing
  • MEP rough-in is ongoing
  • Boiler room equipment is being set and hook ups done
• Area D
  • Exterior framing is complete
  • Sheathing and waterproofing has started
  • Chilled and hot water supply and returns have started
  • Masonry starting early December
  • Interior framing has started
• Scheduled to open Fall 2023-24
